Where Business Meets Healing

Hi everyone,

I’m Jayanti – a girl who once dreamed of becoming a doctor. But sometimes life has its plans. Due to some challenges, I was unable to study the human body as I once imagined. But I genuinely believe that when life takes something away from you, it also offers you something even better in return.

Coming from a business-oriented family, I always had a curiosity about the business world. So I enrolled in a Bachelor of Business Administration program – and now I’m proudly in the final stretch of my third year. Honestly, it’s been a memorable ride so far!

Here’s where life threw a beautiful twist my way – during my summer vacation, I got the opportunity to intern in hospital administration. It felt like destiny had given me a second chance to be part of the hospital world, not as a doctor, but in my way. I want to share with you what I learned, experienced, and loved during my first internship at Assav Hospital.

The Rounds, The Reality, and The Warmth

Every morning, I joined the hospital rounds with a team of doctors. We visited each patient, checking their health and progress. This wasn’t just a routine – it was a powerful reminder that at the heart of every hospital, it’s all about the patients and their well-being.

On the induction day, I met incredible doctors and staff. Slowly, this team began to feel like a family. From visiting patients in the ICU and dialysis unit to seeing the tiniest fighters in the NICU, I had the privilege of witnessing both the fragility and strength of human life.

I’ll never forget the moments in the NICU – watching those tiny little munchkins fighting through pain. It touched a very soft corner of my heart. I also met elderly patients with orthopedic issues, saw hopeful eyes after eye surgeries, and even moms eagerly waiting to hold their newborns from the NICU. These experiences moved me deeply.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Beyond emotions, I also learned a great deal on the academic side.

Ayushman Bharat: A government scheme offering health benefits to underprivileged people.

ESIC Portal: A system for employees earning below ₹21,000 – essential for staff like nurses, housekeeping, pharmacy workers, and pathology technicians.

Payroll & Salary Calculations: Since hospitals operate 24/7 in three shifts, I learned how to calculate salaries, overtime, and emergency duty pay.

Documentation: I prepared reports, drafted letters, maintained feedback records, and even wrote an article for the organization!

I realized that running a hospital isn’t just about treating patients. It’s about coordination, quick decision-making, and a strong back-end team working tirelessly behind the scenes.

The Real Heroes Behind the Scenes

One thing I noticed working in a hospital is that it’s not easy. You need to remain mentally alert at all times. Emergencies can come at any moment. And you must always be cautious not to carry infections back home.

Many hospital staff skip meals, work overtime, or even miss family functions. And still, they show up every day, calm, composed, and ready to serve. I admire their strength and dedication. Also, a shoutout to Assav Hospital for its cleanliness and hygiene! Most people dread hospitals because of the smell and fear, but Assav surprised me. The place feels more like a well-maintained hotel – clean, fresh, and with positive vibes all around. Staff follow strict hygiene protocols, creating a safe environment for both patients and employees.

Feedback, Growth, and Gratitude

As part of my internship, I also took part in feedback sessions. I listened to staff members about their challenges – whether it was the temperature of the AC, delays in salaries, or issues with canteen cleanliness. I compiled all the suggestions and forwarded them to the relevant authorities. It felt good to be a voice for improvement.

A Journey I’ll Always Cherish

My internship at Assav Hospital wasn’t just educational – it was transformational. I learned, I felt, I grew. It made me realize how hospitals are filled with real-life heroes – people who save lives while sacrificing their comfort, food, and sleep.

Though I didn’t become a doctor, life gave me a new way to connect with the medical world – and I’m incredibly grateful for that.

This was more than just an internship.

It was a beautiful, life-changing experience.

And this is just the beginning.
