Art of Giving

When gloom descends and heart is hollow

World’s a blur , life so shallow

Think thou shalt not of pain so fierce

Cry you may holding your tears

Pound it will to the deepest burrow

Destiny in times these tests your core thorough

Kneel down and bow your head

Is all the voices screamed ahead

Look up and pierce those eyes

With a gaze nous defies

Proclaiming it defiantly to the stars

Healing deep wounds and old scars

Of troubles unknown and faces unseen

A random act of kindness

Just all to help me heal within

Forget not your grief is but

A tiny speck where unhappiness abounds

Walk in someone’s shoes

And step aside to the darkness around

Think not of candle slight

Light it n see its resolve

Inspire it does as it burns alive

In the biblical book of Genesis , God was grieved by the behaviour of mankind and decides to destroy the earth with flood. However, after his anger subsides, he instructs Noah in his vision  to build an ARK  so that mankind and animals could seek refuge and save themselves from the flood. Noah’s ARK indeed saves all from the flood and is reflective of good people finding favour with God.

It’s our responsibility, being sent by God in human form, to keep building these ARKs(Acts of Random Kindness) in our lifetime to reassure God’s faith in humanity and make this world a better place by the time we leave. Art of Giving(AOG) is a step in this very direction. Art of giving, an initiative heralded by Shri Achyuta Samanta, founder of KIIT,KISS and KIMS University is celebrated every year on 17th May .The AOG campaign was launched on 17th May 2007. On this day the staff and students, of their own free will, contribute to noble causes and charity to help alleviate the suffering of the needy and deprived sections of the society. AOG tells us that one need not be affluent to help somebody and our small contribution can make a huge difference in someone’s life, even without one knowing about it. So this year, let’s step out as proud KIITians to make small positive changes and bring smiles on aggrieved faces for its not just for them, sometimes in doing so you help and heal yourself as well.
