From the moment a text pops up from my mother, “Kobe bari aschish pujo te?”, to witnessing the city illuminated with lights and bustling with celebrations, one truly feels the heartbeat of Durga Puja in Kolkata.
This year was particularly remarkable, with the Puja parikrama reportedly generating ₹50,000 crore in revenue, reflecting the grandeur and cultural significance of the festival.
If anyone believes that human imagination is limited, they should visit the pandals of Kolkata. The themes are mesmerising—innovative, thought-provoking, and beautifully crafted—from elaborately decorated lanes to intricately designed Durga protimas and imaginative pandal concepts. Kolkata during Pujo is nothing short of a wonder.
These photographs are my attempt to pen down my journey—from a grown-up boy observing his city preparing for Pujo, to a visitor immersing himself in Kolkata’s celebrations over six unforgettable days.
Asche bochor abar hobe.
